Bokta
Questions about Bokta
What the loop actually does, how food gets in, and the questions that still need a confirmed answer.
What it is
- What is Bokta, in one line?
- A kitchen that stays one record: what came in, what went out, what you can cook, what to buy, and what you actually ate.
- Is this a recipe app?
- Recipes are one part of the loop, not the whole product. A recipe app that does not know your cupboards can tell you what to cook, but not what you can cook from what you already have.
- What if I already use a recipe app, a notes app, and a shopping list?
- That is the usual workaround, and it is the problem Bokta is built around. Those tools do not share a pantry, so each one asks you to re-type what the others already know. Bokta is useful when you want that loop to close, not when you want a fifth list.
Getting food in and using it
- Do I have to type my whole pantry in?
- You can scan a barcode, photograph an item, or scan a grocery receipt. Bokta can turn what you bought into pantry entries instead of making you type everything by hand.
- What if it recognises the wrong product?
- It matches against things already in your pantry, catches likely duplicates, and asks you to confirm anything it is not sure about. Uncertain matches stay a question, not a silent guess.
- What happens when I cook?
- Tell Bokta how much you used. The pantry updates the remaining amount. Half a carton, a handful, or three portions from a larger pack are all amounts it can keep.
Cooking, planning and shopping
- Does it know what I can make tonight?
- It compares recipes against the food you already have, and shows what is available, what is running low, and what is missing. Recipes understand the pantry rather than living in a separate pile.
- Does the shopping list build itself?
- Add a meal to your plan and Bokta already knows which ingredients you have. Anything missing can move into the shopping list. Anything you already own stays out of it. Change the plan and the rest of the system changes with it.
- What about food going off at the back of the fridge?
- Quantities and expiry information make the pantry useful for more than answering whether you own something. Bokta can surface what needs using and show meals that fit what is already available, so you use food before buying another version of the same thing.
Nutrition
- Does it track calories and macros?
- Yes. Because Bokta knows the food, quantities and portions being used, it can keep nutritional information such as calories and macros as you go. You do not recreate every meal in a separate calorie tracker afterwards.
