Exporting and deleting your data

Swaya stores your data on your device rather than on a server. Plans, tasks, check-ins and recovery context all live locally, which means they are yours in the plain sense: they are on hardware you own.

Cloud backup and sync are not active unless you turn them on. Until you do, there is nothing of yours on a server to lose, leak or lock you out of.

Open your settings inside the app and choose to export. That produces a copy of your local data that you can keep somewhere else.

Worth doing before any change you might regret, and worth doing periodically regardless.

You can import previously exported data from inside the app. Restoring is confirmation-gated: Swaya asks before it replaces or merges anything, so an import cannot quietly overwrite what is already there.

You can delete your local data from inside the app. Deletion is confirmation-gated and cannot be undone once confirmed, so export a copy first if there is any chance you will want it back.

Note the difference between deleting and hiding. Turning a feature off hides what it held and keeps it recoverable. Deleting is the deliberate, irreversible version, and it is the only thing that destroys anything.

Cloud backup and accounts are inactive unless you enable them. Cloud or account deletion only becomes relevant once those features are actually on.
